Saturday, April 20, 2019: Day 4: Halfway to Africa

Another pleasant night. We arose and dealt with breakfast in the Restaurant for the first time. As with the last voyage, compared with the Colonnade, it was quiet and relaxed. We both had Eggs Benedict. Afterwards, Sarah headed off for her Bridge class and I attended a Port and Tour talk concerning our upcoming shore excursions in Morocco and Portugal.

Next, I attended another lecture by Cpt. Tom Anderson on Maritime issues. This time on the history of the "box" or shipping container. It really was interesting, covering the advent of the modern shipping box, its impact on shipping and how the "retired" boxes are used today.

I then met Sarah for lunch in the Colonnade where they were serving an English cuisine. We sat outside on the stern of the ship. Very nice weather.

I noticed that there was not a return today of the Ambassador Edward Marks. Maybe he over extended his welcome yesterday and was escorted overboard. I hope so.

I then attended the first part of a documentary of the first successful climb of Mt. Everest before breaking away to join a discussion with Rabbi Copnick on the Counting the Omer. It was interesting with references to the Kabbalah and many of the mystic concepts Terri used to study. I need to refresh my readings.

Then we adjourned to afternoon tea in the Club Room where we had a Chamomile Citric tea and finger sandwiches.

Before dinner (Sarah decided to have dinner at the Patio), we attended the pre-dinner entertainment of Sir Tim Rice who collaborated in the writing of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita.
